An open request to first time Voters and Parents.

Gujarat Election's are just ahead and we are already seeing theatrics being performed by the top congress brass and poll strategy being discussed at length in major daily's. One of the important section of the electorate are going to be the First Time Voters these are students who are just out of their School and started pursuing their University Education.

As young we are more prone to influence than adults and most political groups try to sway our votes by giving petty lollipop promises like the NaMO-Etab scheme where our government has already pumped in 300 Corers of Public's hard earned money by promising tablets worth 8000 for 1000 Rs. but on examination you will find that tablets with equivalent configurations are availabe for 5500 in market and government has not bargained a penny for their mass purchase otherwise the same can be procured for atleast 4500 a piece that would be around 40% savings from the current scheme budget. Adding insult to injury these cheap tablets are useless piece of technology equipped with only 1GB of RAM and mediocre processor's that they will find the way to dustbin in less than 6 months of use.

This is really a point to ponder, the ruling party thinks that your and mine vote can be bought along with our right to Choice and the Right to Freedom of Expression just for a mediocre tablet.I know mine freedom of Expression and Right to Choice is priceless and I don't believe anyone worth less than mine too.

For years now subject that is the most important for anyone's future their education has been neglected in our state for too long and the babu-dom in education has become so irresponsible and despotic that they don't an inch unless budged hard. There was a time when education in Gujarat was considered as the top notch in the country and now even  when the students of the Gujarat are compared with those studying in CBSE they themselves feel belittled and remark that we don't have the caliber to compete with them.

The policy making if the Government has to take the blame for this phenomenon; Whenever the students of our states are failing to succeed at National level instead of providing them with better implements like good textbooks , quality teaching and structured syllabus what they do is they outright remove the tough portion, asks questions that are straightway taken from the textbook so students can mug-up the answer and gain marks without learning the way to arrive at the answer. This creates a false sense of accomplishment among the undeserving students that they are educated while their marks were inflated by the government using indirect means. When such methods are used a rote-learner can just recall the answer and score full marks within seconds while a true-learner who toils to get the correct answer may end up spending more time in 3hour exam and yet score less than the rote-learner.This is like God(here Government) punishing their true followers who visit temple everyday and rewarding the devils the criminals in return.

So you might think that okay the policy making is broke, but no wait the textbooks are broke too:-

  • Jesus is said to be a Haivaan in these books

  • And Roza is an infectious disease don't get shocked when a child runs away from a Muslim friend of your thinking he is having a Roza.
http://www.huffingtonpost.in/2017/07/11/gujarat-textbook-describes-roza-as-an-infectious-disease_a_23024460/
  •  And Japan dropped atom bomb on USA, all south Indians are Madrasis and they use Google Translate to translate books from Gujarati to English(vidhyarti mitro becomes student-friends)

As you get higher in grades the errors become graver but alas they are more difficult to communicate to the public let me give you an example :  In the concept of the force fields it is very clear that it is an imaginary concept and any no of field lines can be drawn from a source just that field lines from a stronger source means more lines compared to weaker source. But students in Gujarat are asked to find the no. of field lines passing from the source! even  when they are imaginary and their no. arbitrary.

While students are not allowed to copy in the exams all the good questions that are present in these Gujarat Board textbooks have been copied by the authors from other books which are actually noteworthy without giving the due credits.Plagiarism runs in the blood of these textbooks which are meant to train the next generation of scientists, Doctors and Engineers.

Students in higher grades are required to study and appear for various national level exams but due to glaring errors in textbook they innocently end up losing marks in those exam because their textbook are incorrect and they ended up learning what was wrong. Even worse is when student knows what he is learning is incorrect he needs to learn what is right for scoring in national level exams as well as learn what is wrong in their textbooks for writing in board exams as the examiners are even less informed and treat state board textbooks a their Bhagvad Gita because they might never have read anything else in their lifetime.

Good reference books are used as a reliable source because they have gained popularity owing to their accuracy and previous track record. The truth in its teachings and timeless quality makes it Bhagvad Gita but in Gujarat the name textbooks force students to believe that it is true even if it is not.

These books are parody in itself on it's front page they claim that they have been prepared according to the NCF-2005 (National Curriculum Framework) and the exam pattern and syllabus are based on it. I can confidently say that the so called educators have never read NCF-2005 because I have and it says Board exams cannot be conducted in any other classes except 10th and 12th but alas till recently we had semester Board exams in class 11.

By now the patient reader who is a meritorious  student who just passed their board exam in few years and has been wronged and back-stabbed by their own government or the parents of such students who had to daily endure their children suffering due to the policies of government or an anxious parent whose child is just about to enter the schooling or maybe you are just a learned citizen who is concerned about the deteriorating quality of our society  have got an general impression of how broke the school level education is in Gujarat is and how much damage it has already done to you or your children. It is my humble request to you to act now, be fearless and ask the right questions this election force political parties to make education an agenda for their election contest cause there are issues like this that can make a real difference in the development and the growth in coming years rather than vote bank politics and minority community over-empowerments.

The Parent , to  be Parent and Young Voters must keep in mind what matters them the most when they decide to elect their next Leader and not get swayed away by the petty made up issues.

DISCLAMER : I am not writing this to favor any political association or party but only to make sure that things that we care about and make an impact in our lives get the attention that they deserve.

P.S.  In follow up articles I will bring out more glaring errors in our education system that needs correction.

The onslaughter of Jio and telecom industry

This brand has clearly shaken up the Indian Telecom and has become a rampant customer forager. They have created many records in the process of strengthening their hold on the telecom market like:- 100 million(10 crore) customers in 5 months of operation is unheard of not only in telecom but any sector in particular, this is faster then the growth of users on Facebook!! Jio is the Largest startup ever , Ambani has pumped 1 lakh 70 thousand crore rupees in the Jio project till date. After advent of Jio India has become No 1 consumer data in world rising from the 3rd position by beating China and USA. It has offered free data and voice to all its customers for at least 6 months at a stretch, something heard only in the movie Kingsman : The Secret Service before. But why did they do this at first place? Could they not launch their services as a regular operator?? To answer this question let me take you 10 years back in time around the year 2007 when new telecom companies like ...

How this small city in Gujarat shunned Caste -Based Vote Bank politics

Bhavnagar City has a history where each election till date has been fought on the lines of caste. This is owing to the large majority of Koli Community in the city constituting 45% of the electorate. Congress and BJP are the only two major front runners in any election here and strong independent candidates or third fronts are mostly absent. Owing to strong unity and caste identity among the Koli community it was virtually considered impossible for a non – Koli candidate to win irrespective of their party affiliation or Public image if pitted against a member of Koli community. Thus both parties would either pit a Koli candidate or refrain from it in unison each time. Whenever this pattern was broken the the non Koli candidate has always been punished. During the 2012 Gujarat General assembly elections the Congress heavyweight and leader of opposition Shaktisinh Gohil lost in Bhavnagar Rural constituency against Koli candidate. It is due to this massive majority ...
